Steelers defensive backs coach Ray Horton has left the Steelers to take a position with the Dallas Cowboys according to a tweet by Jason La Canfora. Horton has been rumored to have been courted by the Cowboys for some time now, but had to wait until the season was over to interview him and offer him the job. Reportedly Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler is not being granted permission by the Steelers to interview for the Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator job according to a tweet by Brandon Butler, the son of Keith. Butler reportedly is still a close friend of Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt after time spent together in Pittsburgh, but Butler is reportedly the heir apparent to Dick LeBeau at defensive coordinator for the Steelers. LeBeau just finished his final year under contract with the Steelers and wants to return assuming the Steelers still want him.
UPDATE: La Canfora has changed his tune saying that Horton has deals on the table from both the Cowboys and the Cardinals. The Arizona Republic beat writer Kent Somers reports deal between Horton and Cowboys is not done. Somers went on to report that Horton is flying to Arizona on Wednesday and is now the top candidate for that defensive coordinator position.
