Troy Polamalu Wins AFC Defensive Player Of The Week For 2nd Week In A Row

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the game this past Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. It\’s the second straight week that Polamalu has won the award. Against the Bengals, Polamalu had two assisted tackles and two interceptions on the day. The first interception he streaked down the left sideline and leaped into the corner of the endzone with an outstretched hand. The ball broke the plane of the goalline for a Steelers touchdown. The second interception thwarted a late scoring drive by the Bengals deep into Steeler territory. Polamalu now has 6 interceptions on the season and is only 1 behind league leader Asante Samuel of the Eagles. This is the fifth time now that Polamalu has won the Player of the Week award in his eight seasons in the league.and the second time this season.
