On Wednesday the Steelers placed defensive end Aaron Smith on injured reserve and signed defensive end Ra\’Shon Harris from the Carolina Panthers practice squad to the 53-man roster. Smith suffered a severe right shoulder injury during the Detroit Lions game this past Sunday and will require season ending surgery. Harris was a sixth-round draft pick of the Steelers in the 2009 NFL draft and was released in the final round of roster cuts before the season started.
