Gerry Dulac has a look at the inexperience of the Steelers backup offensive linemen. He also notes that the Steelers could be watching other teams final cuts for a veteran tackle or guard. The scenario though is unlikely though as any veteran that has promise would never make it down to the order of their claim.
Dale Lolley has his look at veteran players he sees on the roster bubble going into tonight\’s game versus Carolina.

In some former player news, the Patriots hosted former Steelers veteran free-agent guard Kendall Simmons on a workout at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday and the Buccaneers released center Sean Mahan on Wednesday as well. Mahan, was re-acquired by Tampa Bay in a trade with Pittsburgh before the start of the 2008 regular season.
Mike Florio is trying to link the Steelers as a possible suitor for Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson. Personally I do not see it though. Even if they did trade for him, they would have to release Charlie Batch or Dennis Dixon from the roster. Do you really want to count on Jackson or Dixon should Ben go down? This is just the usual Florio hot air.
The sprained ankle to inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons may create an opportunity for safety Ryan Mundy to make the team with another strong showing tonight. Mundy could get playing time at inside linebacker when the Steelers go to a dime defense in passing situations. If Mundy shows his versatility, it could cause the Steelers to only keep 3 safeties on the roster because several of the cornerbacks have versatility to play safety in a pinch.
