One Week To The NFL Draft: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday and I hope yinz are doing well.

Ready or not, this will be our last Friday Five before Day One of the NFL Draft, which will start Thursday night and run through Saturday. We’re finishing up with our final draft scouting reports, mock drafts, predictions, and overall recaps. While the Steelers are focused on getting ready for the draft, they made a big splash by trading for Los Angeles Rams’ WR Allen Robinson earlier in the week, adding to this non-stop offseason. Recap of Ninth 2023 Offseason Weekend Friday Night 5 Questions

Question 1: Steelers Depot respondents believe the Steelers will sign two to three XFL players prior to the start of training camp. The median response was 2.75. So, I will round that up to three. The XFL Championship is on May 13 so plenty of time before the start of training camp in late July.

Question 2: Breiden Fehoko is a clear favorite to make the week one 53-man roster. He got the nod from 17 of 19 voters. Armon Watts narrowly edged out Isaiahh Loudermilk by 10 yes votes to eight. Montravius Adams is the odd man out with just five affirmative votes. So, the consensus is Fehoko and Watts making the 53-man roster in week one.

Question 3: Depot respondents believe that the signing of Fehoko and Watts lessens the odds of the Steelers drafting a defensive lineman in the first three rounds. But it was a close 10-8 vote with one abstaining.

Question 4: Omar Khan has earned a solid B so far. The overall consensus was a 3.2 with several A grades. But most still want to see how the Steelers do in the draft, his first as general manager, before acing him. But his free agency moves have folks encouraged.

Question 5: Folks offered many suggested questions to ask Dick LeBeau if Dave and Alex get a chance to chat with him again. Several folks asked about comparing Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin as head coaches he worked for. Another theme was more details on his recital of the Night Before Xmas every year.
