Tuitt, Watt, Haden, Conner Injured In Steelers Win Over Chargers

The Pittsburgh Steelers won their second game of 2019 Sunday night but the victory over the Los Angeles Chargers came with a cost, however, as several players suffered injuries during the contest.

After the game was over, head coach Mike Tomlin said that defensive end Stephon Tuitt suffered a pectoral injury, cornerback Joe Haden a groin injury, outside linebacker T.J. Watt an oblique injury and running back James Conner suffered a quad injury. All he would say about the injured players is that each were being evaluated.

Tuitt’s injury might perhaps wind up being the most serious one and we might not find out more about him until after the team returns to Pittsburgh so that he can get get an MRI. Tuitt left the Sunday night game in the first quarter and after originally being labeled questionable to return, he was ruled out at halftime.

Haden, Watt and Conner all suffered their respective injuries in the second half. Rookie inside linebacker Devin Bush also left the Sunday night game with an injury but he returned after getting either his foot or ankle wrapped.

The Steelers have a bye in Week 7 and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Steelers already had several players miss the Sunday night game with injuries and that list of six included running back Jaylen Samuels (knee), wide receiver James Washington (shoulder), fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee), cornerback Steven Nelson (groin), inside linebacker Mark Barron (hamstring), quarterback Mason Rudolph (concussion).

Tomlin’s next press conference won’t take place until next Tuesday or Wednesday as the Steelers next game isn’t until a week from Monday. That home game wuill be against the Miami Dolphins.
