AFC North Week 7 Recap: Ravens Win, Bengals Lose With Steelers, Browns On Byes

Only two AFC North teams played in Week 7 and one won while the other one lost.

In early Sunday action the Cincinnati Bengals remained winless for the 2019 regular season as they lost 27-17 at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In the Bengals loss, quarterback Andy Dalton completed 22 of his 43 total pass attempts for 276 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. One of those interceptions was returned for a touchdown by Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue with 4:18 left in the fourth quarter. Dalton’s lone touchdown pass of the game went to running back Joe Mixon from 2-yards out with 1:25 left in the first half. Dalton was sacked twice on Sunday by the Jaguars defense.

Mixon ended the game with just 2-yards rushing on 10 carries while Dalton led the team with 33 yards on four attempts with two being scrambles, Wide receiver Alex Erickson led Cincinnati in receiving Sunday with eight receptions for 137 yards.

The Bengals defense allowed Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew to throw for 255 yards and one touchdown on just on 15 total completions. Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette rushed for 131 yards on his 29 total carries and he also caught two passes for another 14 yards. The Bengals defense sacked Minshew twice on Sunday with defensive tackle Geno Atkins getting credit for both quarterback take-downs.

The Bengals will now get ready to host the 4-3 Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.

The Baltimore Ravens were the other AFC North team to play in Week 7 and they beat the Seattle Seahawks 30-16 on the road in a late Sunday afternoon contest.

In the win, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed just 9 of his 20 total pass attempts for 143 yards win no touchdowns and no interceptions. Jackson, however, did rush for 166 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in the Sunday road win over the Seahawks

Ravens rookie wide receiver Miles Boykin led his team in receiving with two catches for 55 yards and running back Mark Ingram rushed for 46 yards on his 12 carries.

While the Ravens offense only managed one touchdown to go along with three field goals by Justin Tucker, their defense produced two scores via a 67-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the first half by new cornerback Marcus Peters and an 18-yard fumble return for a touchdown by cornerback Marlon Humphrey with 3:37 left in the fourth quarter.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson completed 20 of his 41 total pass attempts for 241 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the loss. Wilson rushed for another 27 yards and was sacked once on Sunday by the Ravens defense. The Seahawks rushed for 106 net yards on Sunday with running back Chris Carson leading the way with 65 yards on 21 total attempts.

The 5-2 Ravens will be on their bye in week 8 and their next game will be at home in Week 9 against the New England Patriots.

As for the two AFC North teams who were on their byes in Week 7, the (2-4) Pittsburgh Steelers and the (2-4) Cleveland Browns, both will be back in action in Week 8. The Steelers will host the winless Miami Dolphins next Monday night while the Browns will play the Patriots on the road next Sunday.
