2019 NFL Week 1: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Steelers Depot Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday to yinz and welcome to Week 1 of the 2019 NFL regular season.

Wow, it’s finally here and it’s going to be a fantastic 2019 NFL season. The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears got it all started Thursday night and with the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the New England Patriots Sunday night, we’ll get a nice afternoon free to watch the early games around the NFL.

Can the Steelers get off to a 1-0 start Sunday night? Playing the Patriots at Gillette Stadium to start the season is a tough chore for sure but I think it’s a slight advantage to play New England in Week 1 as opposed to later in the season.

We already have quite a bit of content related to the Steelers-Patriots game posted on the site and much more is on the way Saturday. We’ll also have tons of content up right after the Sunday night game concludes and work feverishly into Monday morning. Hopefully that content is centered around a Steelers win.

As usual, I have five questions (plus one bonus this week) for yinz to answer throughout Friday night and into Sunday morning and I look forward to reading many, many replies.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing yinz on the site the next several days.

Peace and love and go Steelers!

1 – True or false: Steelers running back James Conner and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster will have more than 160 combined total yards from scrimmage Sunday night.

2 – How many total offensive plays will Conner and fellow Steelers running back Jaylen Samuels be on the field at the SAME TIME?

3 – Will Steelers rookie inside linebacker Devin Bush play more or less than 65% of all total official defensive snaps Sunday night?

4 – True or false: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will finally throw his first home interception against the Steelers ever Sunday night.

5 – What will the Steelers final 2019 regular season record be? (15 end of season points if right)

Bonus – What will the Cleveland Browns final 2019 regular season record be? (5 end of season points if right)

Recap of 2019 Cutdown Weekend Friday Night Questions

Question 1: The Steelers kept both Tuzar Skipper and Ulysses Gilbert III on the 53-man roster. 63.7% of Steelers Depot respondents advise that if forced to choose, they would’ve kept Tuzar Skipper over Gilbert. The prevailing opinion was that outside linebacker required more depth than inside linebacker. Four folks refused to bite and insisted they would keep both regardless of the circumstances. The Steelers share the same opinion. Let’s see how each does this season.

Question 2: 79.4% of respondents answered “yes” Diontae Johnson will be one of the team’s seven inactive players for the Week 1 game against the Patriots. We’ll find out the answer in about 48 hours.

Question 3: Steelers Depot respondents have submitted their preseason grades for the quarterbacks not named Ben. Mason Rudolph earned a B+ with a 3.54 GPA. Joshua Dobbs was at the bottom of the class with a C- (1.81 GPA). Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges received a B- (2.85 GPA). Unfortunately, Hodge’s scholarship did not earn him a spot on the roster. Could he end up playing in the XFL?

Question 4: So far, the Steelers have not made a change to the initial 53-man roster they formed on Saturday, August 31. Will there be a change between now and Sunday? Only 36.3% predicted that there would not be more than one player difference between the initial 53-man roster and the Week 1 roster they have available on Sunday.

Question 5: The Steelers traded Jerald Hawkins to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, August 31. A healthy 62.9% of respondents predicted only one trade. Not much time for any more trades.

Okay folks. Tonight’s questions count. Once Beaver Falls Hosiery “likes” your response it’s recorded. Generally, the window will remain open until kickoff for game related questions. Other cutoffs may be established for questions such as active versus inactive players.

The contest which will run through the Friday Night questions posed on the Friday before the Super Bowl (January 31, 2020). Once we score those answers, we will announce the winners. Only one profile name can accumulate points (no sharing between handles). Let’s keep it fun but we’ll offer a cash prize for the top three place finishers, but you must have a PayPal account. 1st – $100; 2nd – $75; 3rd – $25.

Who is going take the big prize in 2020? Will it be a veteran or a rookie respondent? Will the GreenBastard reappear and take the prize? Answering every week increases your chances so don’t forget to answer the Friday Night 5 questions each week!
