3 Weeks Until 2019 Training Camp: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Steelers Depot Friday Night Five Questions

Happy Friday to yinz and hopefully all had a safe Fourth of July. Hopefully the rest of the holiday weekend goes smooth for all as well.

By the time you read this I will be getting close to arriving in Carson City, NV. Wifey and I decided to drive up there from Las Vegas for the weekend and left early Friday morning. We will spend all of Saturday and Sunday seeing the sights in Carson City, Lake Tahoe and Reno and then head back to Vegas on Monday. This will be my last little bit of r&r before the Pittsburgh Steelers 2019 season gets underway, which essentially begins at the end of July with the start of training camp.

Speaking of training camp, three weeks from today the Steelers will have had their first practice at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe and five weeks from today is the team’s first preseason game of 2019. We’re almost there.

As usual, I have five questions for yinz to answer throughout this Friday night and the remainder of the weekend and I hope several can participate in this weekly exercise.

Have a safe and prosperous rest of your weekend and thank you to all that visited the site this past week. I love all of yinz!

1 – Between Steelers wide receiver Donte Moncrief and tight end Vance McDonald, which player will have more receptions in 2019?

2 – Rank the Steelers eight 2019 road games below in order from toughest to easiest:

at New England Patriots
at San Francisco 49ers
at Los Angeles Chargers
at Cleveland Browns
at Cincinnati Bengals
at Arizona Cardinals
at New York Jets
at Baltimore Ravens

3 – If given the opportunity, JuJu Smith-Schuster said he would add Aaron Donald and Luke Kuechkly to the Steelers if he were given the opportunity to add two players not currently on the team. Both those players play in the NFC so name me two different players from AFC teams (NO AFC NORTH PLAYERS) that you would add to the Steelers.

4 – How many games will it take will Smith-Schuster go over 500 yards receiving on the 2019 season?

5 – Of former Steelers Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood and Andy Russell, if you could only pick one to get into the Hall of Fame next year at the cost of the other two remaining out at least ten more years, who would you choose?

Recap of Last Weekend of June 2019 Friday Night Questions

Question 1: Only 15% of Steelers Depot Friday Night Question respondents believe in their “heart of hearts” that Javon Hargrave will sign a contract extension before the start of the regular season.

Question 2: Respondents split evenly on whether Devin Bush would be over or under 86.5 total tackles in 2019. Would you be happy if it is a push?

Question 3: Steelers Depot respondents disagree with Pro Football Focus on Sutton Smith getting many defensive snaps in 2019. 75% took the under on 15.5 snaps. If he makes the 53-man roster, let’s hope he is at least a special team’s demon.

Question 4: We gave the nod to Terrell Edmunds over James Washington on which would have the better performance in 2019 by a 70-30 margin. Several folks mentioned that the receiver in chief had more competition at his position. Let’s hope both have Pro Bowl worthy seasons!

Question 5: The AFC championship loss to the Patriots in 2017 narrowly edged the 2005 loss. The 2002 loss trailed with the 1998 loss to the Broncos an afterthought. Maybe the recent wounds are rawer. Clearly, the Patriots have gotten under Steelers Nation skin. But even older AFC championship losses rankle. The 13-17 loss to the Chargers in 1995 and the 1977 loss to the Raiders that prevented an attempt at a threepeat getting mentions.

25% of respondents said they have visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but several folks did not answer so this may be an inflated number.
