Steelers’ Seven Shots – Sunday, April 14, 2019

Every Sunday during the offseason I plan on recapping for you seven items related to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL that may have fallen through the cracks the past week that should be worth your time to read or watch. This weekly feature will be entitled “Steelers’ Seven Shots.”

Shot #1 – Steelers cornerback Joe Haden turns 30 on this Sunday so make sure to reach out to him on Twitter and wish him a Happy Birthday if you have time. Below are some highlights from Haden’s 2018 season with the Steelers from the team’s official twitter account.

Shot #2 – The Steelers newest cornerback, Steven Nelson, finally made his way to Primanti Brothers this past week on 412 day so he’s now official. You can see a quick video recap of his trip to the famous Pittsburgh sandwich shop below

Shot #3 – One of the Steelers other big free agent additions this offseason, wide receiver Donte Moncrief, has finally taken up residency in Pittsburgh with Phase 1 of the team’s offseason set to begin

Shot #4 – The main Steelers story in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 15 years ago yesterday revolved around the contract status of then quarterback Tommy Maddox. Oh, the other part of that story was that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was in town for a pre draft visit.

You can read the full story on Maddox and Roethlisberger by following the Google newspaper link right here.

Shot #5 – Steelers center Maurkice Poucey and his twin brother Mike Pouncey were both back in Florida on Saturday for their college alma mater’s annual spring football game. Below is some video from their time in the Florida locker room. Additionally, the Pouncey Brothers also had time recently to present a $30,000 check to their former high school in Lakeland.

Shot #6 – Are you looking for a quick way to catch up on several of this year’s draft prospects? If so, you need to buy a copy of the ‘2019 SIS Football Rookie Handbook‘. They sent me a copy of it this year and it is great. It has quick recaps for each player along with some very detailed stats. This draft guide is very well put together and is easy to read. Even with just less than two weeks remaining before this year’s draft takes place you can get caught up quick and especially if you buy the Kindle version right now.

Shot #7 – The 2019 NFL Draft is now less than two weeks away and if you find the Steelers new annual hat for the event growing on you some since its release a few weeks ago, you can purchase it online via Fanatics by following the link in the Tweet below or here.
