Steelers Announce OTAs And Minicamp Schedule For 2019

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced their spring football schedule, releasing the dates for their OTAs and minicamps that will take place over the next couple of months.

The offseason is broken down into three phases. Phase One will begin two weeks from now, April 15th, a two-week period where players will be able to workout at the Steelers’ facility. Phase Two begins April 29th, allowing for one-field workouts. Running three weeks in total, that’s also when the team will hold their three day rookie minicamp. That will take place either the first or second week of May. Last year, it was held two weeks following the draft. It’ll be the first look at the team’s rookie class and chance for tryout players to make the 90 man roster. Recent history suggests at least one player will.

The third phase involves OTAs, organized team activities, which are technically voluntary, sans a three-day mandatory minicamp in June. Attendance though is usually 100%, even for the voluntary ones.

The dates for those events are as follows, courtesy of the team website.

Voluntary OTAs

Tuesday, May 21 – OTA #1
Wednesday, May 22 – OTA #2
Thursday, May 23 – OTA #3
Tuesday, May 28 – OTA #4
Wednesday, May 29 – OTA #5
Thursday, May 30 – OTA #6
Monday, June 3 – OTA #7
Tuesday, June 4 – OTA #8
Wednesday, June 5 – OTA #9
Thursday, June 6 – OTA #10

Mandatory Minicamp

Tuesday, June 11– Day 1
Wednesday, June 12 – Day 2
Thursday, June 13 – Day 3

From there, the team will break until they return for training camp in late July and kick off the 2019 season. Camp dates haven’t been announced yet, usually released in very late May or early June. Of course, the location will be the same, their 54th season practicing at St. Vincent College in Latrobe. We’ll be there to report on practice, just as we have for the last four years.
