Steelers Add Intern Strength & Conditioning Coach

Little more housekeeping for you on this lazy Wednesday. We already told you about several of the assistant coaching changes the Pittsburgh Steelers recently announced to their website. Add one more to the list. According to the team site, Pittsburgh has hired Rodain Delus as a strength & conditioning coach intern.

Delus, like new assistant coach Matt Symmes, most recently worked at South Carolina. Delus served as their Grad Assistant Athletic Trainer. According to his LinkedIn, he also was the head athletic trainer at Spring Valley High School and an assistant at APEX Athletic Performance.

Previous jobs for him included the Athletic Trainer at Drayer Physical Therapy and the preseason athletic trainer for the Detroit Lions in 2017. Delus began school at Southern Utah, majored in exercise science and athletic training. A wide receiver, he was on the football team but appeared in only a handful of games and never showed up in any box score.

The Steelers haven’t made any other changes to its S&C staff. Its still run by longtime member Garrett Giemont and assistant Marcel Pastoor, the latter who is often stretching out Antonio Brown before training camp practices. Pastoor was one of several Steelers to run in the 2018 Pittsburgh Marathon. Assistant athletic trainer Jon Andino ran the full marathon, impressively finishing in the top 500 out of a group of nearly 3600.

Last year, the Steelers hired Dan Liburd to be the team’s strength and conditioning intern. That appears to have only lasted one year as we noted last month.
