Texans Trade Brock Osweiler, Second Round Pick To Browns

The first shocking move of the day goes to the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns. In a move no one saw coming, the Texans sent QB Brock Osweiler and a second round pick to the Browns in a move that essentially amounts to a salary dump for Houston.

The Browns are likely to cut Osweiler after the 2017 season when the dead money hit is practically nothing, making this a very NBA-like move for Cleveland. They have the cap space to eat Osweiler’s contract this season and get another second round pick (for next year) in their Rolodex while the Texans wash their hands of the mega-bust Osweiler quickly became.

As the Texans’ starter a year ago, Osweiler threw more interceptions (16) than touchdowns (15), failed to complete 60% of his passes, and was benched by year’s end for Tom Savage. He signed a 4 year/$72 million deal in the 2016 offseason. He’ll make a cool $16 million in 2017.
