Watch: Steelers T Alejandro Villanueva Reunites With Afghan Interpreter

In case you missed it, the new season of SC Featured began Saturday night on ESPN’s SportsCenter with the story about the bond between former Army Ranger and current Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Alejandro Villanueva and a man who served as his interpreter during one of his tours in Afghanistan.

ESPN NFL reporter/analyst Ashley Fox and producer Scott Harves traveled to Houston last week ahead of Super BOWL LI after Villanueva agreed to share his story. Villanueva forged a bond with Mohammad Arif Azimi while in Afghanistan, and after U.S. troops left the country, the interpreter’s life was in danger as Taliban forces were seeking retribution for his role in assisting Americans. Villanueva reportedly helped Azimi immigrate to the United States 16 months ago on a special immigrant visa.

In the video segment, Villanueva reunites Azimi in Houston.
