The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Giants 24-14 Sunday at Heinz Field and a few things stick out when you look at the initial snap counts from the game.
Offensively for the Steelers, tight end Ladarius Green played a season-high 35 snaps against the Giants and he responded with perhaps his best game of his NFL career.
Wide receiver Sammie Coates only played 4 offensive snaps against the Giants and failed to receive a target. He did, however, play quite a bit on special teams once again as he’s done all season.
Tackle Chris Hubbard continues to be used as an extra blocker quite a bit as he played 18 snaps Sunday.
Defensively for the Steelers, Arthur Moats and Jarvis Jones was the odd men out this week at outside linebacker as they played just 8 and 12 snaps respectively. James Harrison played 75% of the team’s defensive snaps against the Giants and Bud Dupree saw his playing time increase as well as he was on the field for 35 snaps.
As expected, the Steelers played a lot of sub package against the Giants and that resulted in cornerback William Gay playing 90% of all snaps.
When defensive tackle Javon Hargrave left the game early with a concussion, Ricardo Mathews was the beneficiary of more playing time and he ended with 42 total snaps.
