The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered another loss on Sunday and this time it was to the New England Patriots at home. The initial snap counts from the Week 7 loss are now in and as usual, here is a recap of the notable numbers from the Sunday game at Heinz Field.
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown missed 14 offensive snaps against the Patriots with most of them coming due to the quad injury he suffered late in the third quarter.
With Sammie Coates still dealing with his finger injury, Cobi Hamilton saw the field more on Sunday against the Patriots. Coates played just 7 offensive snaps while Hamilton played 49. Even though young wide receiver Eli Rogers was active on Sunday, he didn’t play a single snap and it makes you wonder if he aggravated his previous turf toe injury during warm-ups.
The Steelers used a lot of personnel groupings Sunday that included at least two tight ends and that is evidenced by Xavier Grimble playing 42 total snaps.
Defensively for the Steelers, linebacker Ryan Shazier played just 32 snaps Sunday in his first game back from injury. He said after the game that it was coach’s decision to let him and Vince Williams rotate and wasn’t related to his health.
Anthony Chickillo and Jarvis Jones led the outside linebackers in snaps played with 33 each.
Rookie safety Sean Davis only played 3 snaps against the Patriots.
