Steelers FB Roosevelt Nix Sounds Like He’s Ready To Make 2016 Debut In Week 6

While the Pittsburgh Steelers did suffer a few more injuries during Sunday’s win over the New York Jets, it sounds like they might just get one player who has yet to play this season back for their Week 6 road game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fullback Roosevelt Nix, who has missed the team’s first five games this season with a back injury, posted Monday morning on his Twitter account that he “really can’t wait to strap it up this week.”

Nix was inactive again for Sunday’s home game against the Jets even though he practiced fully all three days last week. He suffered his back injury at some point during the preseason or training camp.

If Nix returns for the Steelers Sunday game against the Dolphins, he’s unlikely to play more than 15 snaps or so on offense because he’s a fullback. However, he could wind up playing significantly on special teams in that game.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will likely provide an update on Nix as well as the long list of other injured players the team currently has during his weekly Tuesday press conference.
