Season 7, Episode 2 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd due to schedule conflicts and we kick off things by previewing the Pittsburgh Steelers Friday Night Lights practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium and that includes a brief rundown of the current injury situation.
Steelers wide receivers coach Richard Mann hinted recently that 2016 might be his final season in the league so we talk a little bit about him as well as a few recent comments he made about second-year wide receiver Sammie Coates. Alex and I continue on talking about Coates and how quickly he’ll be integrated into the offense this year.
With cornerback Senquez Golson going down injured, rookie safety Sean Davis has been forced into action as the team’s starting sub package cornerback. Because of that, Alex and I discuss what this might mean defensively if the team decides to ultimately use more dime defense this season. We look at the different very options the team might have when it comes to using an additional safety in those situations. Will it be Shamarko Thomas? Will the team bring back veteran Will Allen? We discuss all of this thoroughly.
Based on a Thursday report, the Steelers aren’t likely to extend the contract of veteran linebacker Lawrence Timmons so Alex and I revisit this topic and whether or not he or backup Vince Williams will be back in 2017.
We briefly discuss rookie cornerback Artie Burns during this show as well as it relates to his early growing pains at the start of training camp.
As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.
