RB Johnson, C Schooley On Steelers IR After Clearing Waivers On Tuesday

As we prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers to resume training camp practices on Wednesday, here is some transaction housekeeping for those of you who are scoring at home.

As expected, running back Brandon Johnson and center Quinton Schooley both cleared waivers on Tuesday and have now reverted to the Steelers Reserve/Injured list. Both players were injured during the team’s first three days of training camp practices.

The team now has five days to reach injury settlements with Johnson and Schooley, so I will be on the lookout for that as the week progresses. Both players signed split contracts with the team and Schooley received a $4,000 signing bonus as part of his contract.

Schooley was one of the team’s original undrafted free agents while Johnson, a Penn State product, had only been with the team a short time.

In related news, we are expecting the Steelers to formally announce the signing of former TCU cornerback Kevin White Jr. sometime on Wednesday. They will need to make a corresponding move in order to accommodate him on the 90-man roster.
