I would normally start this weekly post off by wishing all of you a Happy Friday, however, I know better based on what all has happened today. Even so, we are now one full week away from the Pittsburgh Steelers first training camp practice in Latrobe and that’s something to be thankful for.
The best thing about being a Steelers blahger is that you never know how each and every day is going to go. The last two days are certainly a prime example of that. With that said, I look forward to my last real day of freedom on Saturday as after that I really won’t have a breather until the week before the team’s 2017 OTA practices get underway.
As usual, I have five questions for all of you loyal visitors to answer in the comments below and I hope a lot of you will take part in the exercise. As you can probably imagine, all of this week’s questions revolve around the two major things that took place over the course of the last two days.
Peace and love to all of you and please have a very safe weekend.
1 – With the long-term future of Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell being very cloudy now that he’ll reportedly be suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season, how early in the 2017 NFL Draft would you be willing to select a running back?
2 – Which one of the first four games of the 2016 regular season do you think the Steelers will most miss having Bell at running back?
3 – Assuming Bell stays on the straight and narrow from here on out and returns to pre-injury form following his suspension, would you recommend the Steelers placing the franchise tag on him next offseason, or would you instead let him walk away via free agency with a possible 2018 third-round compensatory draft pick coming as compensation?
4 – The Steelers released veteran tight end Matt Spaeth with the failed physical designation on Thursday and it now looks like his long career is over for good. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being fantastic, how would you rate Spaeth’s career with the Steelers?
5 – With Spaeth now out of the picture, do you see David Johnson or Xavier Grimble making the final 53-man roster in his place?
