Bears Sign Former Steelers CB Brandon Boykin

How about one more update on former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Brandon Boykin before the start of training camp?

It’s been quite an offseason for Boykin and he’s finally found another home as it was announced late Wednesday that he has signed with the Chicago Bears.

After originally being signed by the Carolina Panthers earlier in the offseason, Boykin was released in May. Since then, he has reportedly had visits with the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys, who both chose not to sign him.

Several weeks ago, Steelers defensive backs coach Carnell Lake told a few attendees at the annual fantasy camp that Boykin had a degenerative hip condition. The cornerback later denied that claim, however.

While no details have been announced, it’s very likely that Boykin signed a one-year deal with the Bears for the minimum. With him being signed this close to start of training camp, he’ll certainly have a tough time making their final 53-man roster. We wish him all the best in his efforts.
