The Pittsburgh Steelers 2015 season came to an end Sunday as they lost to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The snap counts from that game have now been compiled and while there aren’t many surprises included in them, there are a few totals worth pointing out.
Offensively for the Steelers, running back Fitzgerald Toussaint once again saw the bulk of the snaps with veteran DeAngelo Williams sidelined once again with a foot injury. Backup Jordan Todman only played 7 snaps in the game compared to Toussaint’s 54.
Rookie wide receiver Sammie Coates saw his most extensive action Sunday in Denver as the auburn product played a career-high 25 snaps.
Defensively for the Steelers, you will notice that outside linebacker Arthur Moats failed to log any defensive snaps against the Broncos and that was because he suffered a pectoral injury while covering the team’s first punt of the game. As a result of that, rookie outside linebacker Bud Dupree played most of the snaps on the left side.
Young cornerback Ross Cockrell only played 28 total defensive snaps against the Broncos as the Steelers chose to use Antwon Blake quite a bit on Sunday at one of the two outside spots.
Backup inside linebackers Vince Williams and Sean Spence were both relegated to special teams work only against the Broncos.
