Report: Ryan Shazier Does Not Practice Monday

It should not immediately sound off the alarm but Ryan Shazier apparently did not practice today, according to Jacob Klinger of PennLive.com.

Shazier missed a chunk of practice last week with a knee injury though was ultimately able to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. He did not play every snap though and was rotated out a little more than usual with Sean Spence and Vince Williams. Shazier wound up playing 50 of 69 snaps. Spence received 12 while Williams got eight. Should he miss Sunday’s game, and we are far away from that being likely, Spence will likely get the start with Williams mixing in as was the case during the stretch of games Shazier missed earlier in the year.

It’s unknown if the same injury held Shazier out of practice today.

Health has been the linebacker’s biggest enemy, missing four games in 2015 with a shoulder injury that frustrated many fans and Shazier himself. So when his name is followed by a “DNP,” it’s worth noting and monitoring.

A full injury report will not be released until Wednesday and we’ll get a better idea of where Shazier is at then. Mike Tomlin could also provide an update tomorrow at his Tuesday press conference. We’ll also hopefully have updates on James Harrison (knee), Shamarko Thomas (knee), Matt Spaeth (knee), and Terence Garvin (MCL).

Through six games, Shazier has 47 tackles, three sacks, and two forced fumbles.
