The Pittsburgh Steelers won their second game of the season Sunday afternoon on the road against the St. Louis Rams and the player snap counts from the game are now available.
What sticks out the most offensively is the fact that running back DeAngelo Williams only played 5 snaps Sunday with starter Le’Veon Bell now back from his suspension. Most of Williams’ snaps appeared to have come during the team’s opening drive when both he and Bell were on the field at the same time.
Rookie wide receiver Sammie Coates saw his first career playing time on Sunday with 3 snaps played on offense. He wasn’t, however, used any on special teams.
Running back Dri Archer again played zero snaps on offense.
Linebacker Lawrence Timmons was the deep back on offense during the final two kneel down plays.
Defensively, cornerback Brandon Boykin only played two snaps Sunday while Ross Cockrell played 24.
Safety Shamarko Thomas didn’t play any defensive snaps on Sunday, but rookie defensive end L.T. Walton was able to get on the field for 4 snaps.
