Steelers vs. Jaguars: Morning After Tape Cutups

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their second preseason game 23-21 to the Jacksonville Jaguars Friday night and here are a few of the plays that instantaneously received my attention when I went back through the game a second time.

Here’s the firer run by Le’Veon Bell which was a split zone that he took out to the right

This was the long touchdown from Ben Roethlisberger to Martavis Bryant and you can see the wide receiver stiff-arm the cornerback off the line of scrimmage and it results in instant separation.

William Gay had a nice hit early in the game on this dump off to the tight end. I have slowed it down for you.

Here is a still shot of where the first pass in the game from Landry Jones was. Bryant was an easy target on the play and Jones never gave him a chance.

James Harrison got himself a strip sack early on and here’s the move he used on Jaguars tackle Luke Joeckel. I have slowed this one down as well and it’s glorious.

It wasn’t a great first preseason game for safety Shamarko Thomas as he was the guilty party on this long touchdown to tight end Clay Harbor. Thomas, for some reason, bites on the tight end underneath. For those of you blaming cornerback B.W. Webb on this play, just stop it. This was cover-2 all the way and Webb was expecting help. Defensive backs coach Carnell Lake had a nice talk with Thomas after this play.

This was a nice break and hit by safety Ian Wild.

Shakim Phillips didn’t do Jones any favors on this play. At first, I thought the defensive back tipped the ball, but that wasn’t the case. Drop by Phillips for sure.

Throw og the night by Jones and catch of the night by wide receiver Sammie Coates.
