Report: Missouri’s Shane Ray Cited Monday Morning For Marijuana Possession

It doesn’t sound like things are going well for Missouri edge-rusher Shane Ray with just a few days left before the start of the 2015 NFL Draft as he reportedly was cited Monday morning for possession of marijuana in Cooper County, MO, according to Brandon Kiley of KTGR Radio.

Ray, who many have pegged as a first-round draft choice this coming weekend, recorded 14.5 sacks last season. He declared for the draft following his junior season, but was unable to work out at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine due to a toe injury he suffered in his final game at Missouri.

Ray’s subsequent Pro Day numbers were not what many expected them to be and there were reports last week that he might need surgery on his toe.

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not bring the 6-2, 245-pound Ray in for a pre-draft visit over the course of the last month but they did attend his March workout and reportedly had dinner with him the night before.

It will be interesting to see if this recent marijuana citation hurts Ray’s draft stock. The same goes for Nebraska edge-rusher Randy Gregory, who tested positive for marijuana during the February combine.
