Antonio Brown Hints Wednesday That He Won’t Be Away From Team Much Longer

Want some more good news concerning Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antionio Brown? According to a Wednesday Twitter post, he cant wait to get back around his teammates.

Brown, who decided not to attend the start of the Steelers offseason program this week, also posted Wednesday that he’s currently enjoying spending time with his new baby.

When you stack this Wednesday message on top of the one Brown posted Tuesday evening, it certainly seems as though the Steelers best wide receiver won’t be away from the team too much longer.

Earlier this week it was reported that Brown might stay away all offseason because of him wanting his contract reworked, but as far as I can tell, neither he nor his agent Drew Rosenhaus have commented publicly on that.

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1 reported Monday that sources had told him that Brown won’t attend offseason workouts and that the fifth-year receiver is mulling a holdout from minicamp and training camp.

If Brown was indeed “mulling a holdout”, perhaps that mulling period was a short one and he’s come to the conclusion that the Steelers aren’t going to rework his current contract that he signed back in 2012 that has three years remaining on it.

The first three phases of the Steelers offseason program are voluntary, so until Brown misses the June mandatory minicamp, he shouldn’t be criticized. Based on his recent social media messages, I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing the league’s leading receiver back around his teammates sooner rather than later.

For now, let Brown enjoy his new baby and continue his offseason workouts at he sees fit.
