Steelers Injury Report: Gay, Harrison, Taylor Sit Out Wednesday; Gilbert Practices

The Pittsburgh Steelers have wrapped up their Wednesday practice as they prepare to play the Atlanta Falcons Sunday at the Georgia Dome and the first injury report of the week reveals that several players failed to practice.

Cornerback William Gay (quad), linebacker James Harrison (knee) and cornerback Ike Taylor (shoulder, forearm) all sat out the Wednesday session with injuries.

Gay’s injury probably isn’t that serious as he was able to play the entire game this past Sunday. The early week status of both Harrison and Taylor isn’t encouraging, however. Harrison failed to play this past week while Taylor removed himself from Sunday’s game in the fourth quarter because of his injuries.

On a positive note, tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle) practiced fully Wednesday and the hope is that he’ll be able to return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Falcons. Gilbert has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related), defensive end Cameron Heyward (not injury related) and tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) were all given veteran days off on Wednesday.
