Steelers Release Hemer From Practice Squad To Make Room For Dangerfield

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now official announced the signing of safety Jordan Dangerfield to their practice squad and defensive tackle Ethan Hemer was released to make room for him.

Dangerfield, a Towson product, is needed due to all of the injuries that the team currently has at the safety position. The team has already ruled out Troy Polamalu and Shamarko Thomas for the Sunday game against the New York Jets and there’s a chance that Ross Ventrone might miss the game as well.

If Ventrone is unable to practice fully this week, we could see Dangerfield promoted to the 53 man roster Saturday afternoon as his presence would likely be needed on special teams.

As for Hemer, he became expendable now that the Steelers defensive line is back healthy again.
