2014 Draft

Steelers Hosting UCLA OLB Anthony Barr, Wisconsin DT Beau Allen For Monday Pre Draft Visits

We have known for a few weeks now that UCLA outside linebacker Anthony Barr would be making a pre draft visit to Pittsburgh to visit with the Steelers and Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest reports on Monday that he is now in town.

Barr, who figures to be drafted at some point during the first round, registered 23.5 sacks during his final two seasons at UCLA to go along with 41.5 tackles for loss.

The Steelers need depth at the outside linebacker position now that they’ve released LaMarr Woodley, so Barr certainly could wind up being the pick if still on the board after the first 14 selections are made.

In addition to having Barr in for a visit on Monday, the Steelers are also hosting Wisconsin defensive tackle Beau Allen.

At 333 pounds, Allen would likely best fit the Steelers as a nose tackle. Despite his short area quickness, Allen has enough technique problems to work on that will likely wind up making him a late day-three selection.
