Steelers Week 1 Inactives Include Good News And A Few Surprises

The Pittsburgh Steelers inactive list for their season opener against the Tennessee Titans included a few surprises as well as some good news.

Fullback Will Johnson, who has been battling a hamstring injury that he suffered in the preseason finale, is active for the game and that’s certainly great news.

As far as surprises go, Cody Wallace, who the Steelers signed following their final roster cuts, is inactive today, so that means Kelvin Beachum will be the backup center in the season opener. While Beachum did work a lot during the offseason at center, he did not play many snaps over the ball during the preseason.

Rookie linebacker Vince Williams is also inactive for the season opener, so that means Kion Wilson will more than likely be the first linebacker off the bench should something happen to either Lawrence Timmons or Larry Foote. Also dressed for the game is rookie undrafted free agent Terence Garvin, who undoubtedly will be asked to help out on special teams.

Speaking of special teams, defensive back Antwon Blake, who the Steelers claimed off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars following the cut downs, is inactive Sunday.
