Season 3, Episode 118 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I use the bulk of this show to talk about Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey after photos surfaced Sunday of him and his twin brother Mike Pouncey wearing “Free Hernandez” hats in support of Aaron Hernandez. The incident has created quite a stir so we look at not only his right to wear the hat, but the backlash that it caused as well. We discuss what the Steelers organization possibly said or will say to Pouncey about the incident and whether or not this will be a distraction for the team when training camp gets underway in less than two weeks. Pouncey did apologize on Twitter after we recorded this episode.
We move on from Pouncey topic and discuss the remarks made by several players on Twitter following the George Zimmerman verdict. Quite a few of those players have since issued apologies, so we discuss that aspect of it as well.
With training camp getting ever so closer, we go over the schedule and talk about former Steelers nose tackle Chris Hoke serving as a coaching intern this year. We also talk about a few contracts signed recently by players and look at a few others facing the franchise tag with deadline near.
