Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Doug Legursky announced Saturday evening on Twitter that he is done with the social media platform due to his inability to deal with ignorant people.

THIS WILL BE MY FINAL TWEET. IM OFF THE RADAR. MOSTLY DUE TO MY INCAPABILITY OF DEALING WITH IGNORANT PEOPLE”, Legursky posted.

So what was it that caused Lergursky to get so fired up? Well, it might stem from a reaction that he received on his Facebook page after he posted a video last month that might have implied that the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting that took place in December was a hoax. Legursky did post the apology below on his Facebook page earlier on Saturday.

I have reopened the site for the weekend to let everyone know my final thoughts before closing this site.
Most importantly, I apologize if i have offended anyone by posting a video of a possible hoax involving SHEM. I DID NOT, in anyway mean to suggest that i was a supporter of those opinions, or that the event did not happen. All of the families involved have my deepest sympathy and prayers.
Secondly-Over the short while of having this site ive come to two conclusions . One, that people expect and want to hear your opinions, thoughts, and feelings. and two, that those same people (some, not all) are cruel, and hateful in response to those opinions, thoughts and feeling. I am choosing not to participate any further with this site, that has become far to negative and harmful than positive and productive. This will be my last post on this page. I will be shutting the site down on Monday. Thank you for your support! GOD BLESS

The video that seems to be in question is below and it was posted to Legursky\’s Facebook page on December 17th, just a few days after the Sandy Hook shooting took place.

Legursky, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, is not the most active person on Twitter and Facebook, but he has been vocal as of late on Twitter about gun laws. He hails from Beckley, West Virginia and is known as an outdoorsman type.

The Marshall product has now realized how dangerous it is to post about religion and politics on his social media sites. People love to be offended these days and it appears that he offended quite a few when you read through the comments on both Twitter and Facebook.

Will Legursky return to social media? It is hard to say, but he should get used to using the block button more. Fans like interaction with players, but it appears that Legursky is done interacting with fans, especially the ignorant ones. I feel his pain sometimes.
