Hurricane Sandy Aftermath Forces Steelers To Travel To New York A Day Later Than Planned

Hurricane Sandy will end up affecting the Pittsburgh Steelers after all as Bob Labriola reports Thursday via Twitter that the team is scheduled to travel to New York on Sunday for their 4:25 p.m. game against the New York Giants.

The aftermath that the storm has left in its wake, combined with the logistics of finding a place for the team to stay, is the reasoning behind the schedule change. Ed Bouchette reports via Twitter that the team was scheduled to stay at the Westin in Jersey City, but can\’t because the hotel is still without power.

The team normally flies out on a Saturday when they play Sunday on the road.

Is this a big deal? It is hard to really tell at this point, but some athletes do have routines that they like to follow with getting good rest after travel as one of those routines.

The Giants have also had their preparations altered earlier this week as well in the wake of the storm, but they should have things back to normal by Friday.

Should the Steelers come out flat on Sunday, it certainly will be easy to point to their travel plans as a possible reason.
