Report: Rashard Mendenhall Achilles Injury Not Serious

The Achilles injury suffered by Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans is reportedly a minor one.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports Friday that Mendenhall had the Achilles tighten up on him in the loss to the Titans and that his status for the Sunday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals will be determined by how it responds over the weekend.

In just his second game back since tearing his right ACL at the end of the 2011 regular season, Mendenhall had 6 carries for 6 yards against the Titans with a long run of 5 yards.

The Steelers also lost running back Isaac Redman during the game to an ankle injury, but there is no word yet as to the severity of it. Redman was spotted running on the Steelers sideline following the injury with his ankle heavily wrapped.

With Jonathan Dwyer inactive for the game the Steelers were down to Baron Batch and rookie Chris Rainey after Mendenhall and Redman were sidelined with their injuries. Batch rushed for 22 yards on 10 carries and scored his first NFL touchdown from one yard out with 13:34 left in the game.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will not speak to the media again until Tuesday, so there likely won\’t be too much known about the other injured Steelers players until then.
