Steelers Might Possibly Only Dress Three Running Backs Against Bills Saturday

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Thursday during his press conference that running back Jason Ford (hamstring) will not travel with the team Saturday night for the third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

As expected, running back Rashard Mendenhall (knee) also will not travel as he was just removed from the PUP list last Friday and is several weeks away from being ready for game action. Running back Isaac Redman is rumored to be feeling better as he continues to recover from a hip injury, and with his status for the game against the Bills still currently up in the air, the Steelers could very well end up only dressing running backs Jonathan Dwyer, Baron Batch and Chris Rainey for the game.

The Steelers could decide to make a roster move prior to the game, but that seems unlikely to happen this late in the week, but it is not out of the question I suppose. Redman very well could be healthier than we all think, and should he play, that will be both encouraging and help with the numbers.

With all of the above said, I think we can look forward to a heavy dose of Dwyer, Batch and Rainey Saturday night in Buffalo.
