Ravens Promote Dean Pees To Defensive Coordinator, Cam Cameron To Remain OC

Some news from the enemy today as it was announced a short time ago that the Baltimore Ravens have promoted linebackers coach Dean Pees to defensive coordinator to replace Chuck Pagano, who was named the Indianapolis Colts head coach earlier this week. Pees has coached the Ravens linebackers for the last two seasons after spending six seasons on the New England Patriots staff where he served as the linebackers coach and later as defensive coordinator after Eric Mangini left to coach of the New York Jets. Pees also coached several years at Kent State and even coached Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison when he was still in college. Pees will be the Ravens fourth defensive coordinator in the past five seasons.

There had been some speculation that offensive coordinator Cam Cameron could be replaced this offseason, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said today that Cameron would be retained. Much like former Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians took a lot of heat from the Steelers fan base, so too does Cameron from the Ravens fan base, and I can only imagine what the uproar will sound like today with the news that Cameron will be retained. The Steelers have yet to name a replacement for Arians, but that is expected to happen over the course of the next two weeks by many accounts.
