Neck Injury, Not Foot Forced Aaron Smith To Injured Reserve

Ed Bouchette reported this morning via Twitter that it was a neck injury and not the sprained foot that led to the decision by the Steelers to place defensive end Aaron Smith on injured reserve. Smith suffered the mid foot sprain during the week 4 game against the Texans and this is the first we have heard about Smith also having a neck injury.

The Steelers placed Smith on injured reserve yesterday and undrafted free agent defensive lineman Corbin Bryant was promoted from the practice squad to take his place on the Steelers 53 man roster. Bryant should dress and be active today with nose tackle Chris Hoke likely to be down with his neck stinger injury suffered last week against the Jaguars.
