Steelers Six From Around The Web – Tuesday July 26th – Steelers Football Is Back Edition

The Steelers have started to agree to terms with a few undrafted free agents and you can view the signings here. So far the list includes Anthony Gray, Weslye Saunders, Miguel Chavis, Terrence McCrae, Adam Mims and Colin Miller. As I caution in the post though, none of these should be considered official until the Steelers release the names later this week.

The official NFL calendar has been released and team facilities will open today so players can report for physicals and voluntary strength and conditioning. Teams may negotiate with and sign their own draft picks and undrafted rookie free agents starting today as well.

The NFL has released the official list of the 2011 restricted and unrestricted free agents with the Steelers having 14 unrestricted and 2 restricted players on the list. None of these are unexpected.

Steelers president Art Rooney II addressed the media during his press conference on Monday following the end of the lockout and you can read the transcript here.

The 2011 Steelers training camp schedule has been released and this year the Friday night practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium is on August 5th.

The Ravens have informed tight end Todd Heap, wide receiver Derrick Mason, nose tackle Kelly Gregg and running back Willis McGahee that they will be released later this week to clear some salary cap room, but will try to re-sign a few of them to less expensive contracts. I have a feeling that quite a few teams might try to sign them away and the Bengals and Browns both have the cap room to make runs at them if they so desire.
